Families with young children are particularly vulnerable to life’s challenges, especially single moms.

At this time of year, we all have different ways of celebrating Christmas. For some people, it's about music - playing their favorite carols or singing along to their favorite holiday songs. For others, it's about decorations - putting up as many lights as possible or finding the perfect tree to complement their home décor style. And for many of us, it’s remembering to celebrate the wonders of the Christmas story. Emmanuel, God with us.

But for some local families, Christmas is a time of remembering all that has been lost, taken, trampled on and destroyed.  Not only for adults, but children as well. 

STORY OF HOUSING

“My sister and I have really been struggling.  We’ve been staying at a church with our two kids while getting back on our feet. The pastor has been letting us sleep on the pews overnight and we’ve been really struggling.  Another member of that church connected us with all of you and I can’t thank you enough for your care and support - it means so much to us!

Thank you for helping get us find transportation resources so we could keep our kids at the same school.  My sister was even able to get her license! We're now both working part-time jobs and have begun building our credit history by paying off debts and saving money. We are also learning to manage our finances carefully so we can afford the things we need like groceries and school supplies for our kids who are still in school!

We really appreciate everything that Network Tacoma has done for us here to find safe housing because, without your help, we would not be where we are today.

MORE THAN A HANDOUT

These 2 sisters and their kids are still in great need.  Though we’ve been able to find temporary shelter and food, we’re working to find them career counseling, résumé reviewing, interview training, financial budgeting, permanent housing and more. We’re doing everything we can to help this family get going in the right direction, so they can have a decent life as everyone deserves!

This Christmas we’re raising $40,000 to help these sisters to their next level and help them get back on their feet, find jobs, find healing and experience the love of Jesus!
